40 Years! – Congratulations April!

Congratulations to April on 40 years with Caroba Plastics, Inc.

We are excited to celebrate the 40th work anniversary of the very FIRST employee that was ever hired at Caroba Plastics. In the early days of Caroba, our founder/CEO Barry Hart and his co-founding in-laws split shifts to keep 2 machines running. After several months they realized that it was not sustainable to cover the machines 24/7 by themselves, so they turned to a temp agency that provided 2 employees to help with production. Little did we know that one of those employees would eventually celebrate 40 years with our company, truly a remarkable accomplishment, especially in this day and age.

April moved from her home in South Dakota at the age of 18 to join the Job Corps in Utah. After learning some work skills, she had a friend that wanted to move to Denver and April decided to join her. April quickly laid down roots by joining Caroba Plastics at a wage of $3.65 per hour and started a family with 3 wonderful girls.

40 years ago, when Caroba was founded, there was no Quality Control Department or sophisticated processes and equipment to help ensure quality…it was all reliant on the machine operator to catch any potential issues. Operators not only looked for quality, but they also conducted all the post molding operations such as gate cutting, assembly, and packaging. From the very beginning, April excelled at all these activities because she is conscientious, hardworking, and has a keen eye for detail.

As the company grew, April contributed wherever she was needed. By knowing our processes so well, she became our first Pozzetta Products operator which has the highest quality standards in the injection molding business. About 14 years ago, our assembly operations were getting very busy and April’s skill set was needed to help ensure productivity while maintaining quality. To this day, April still works in assembly and is not only valued for the work she does but also for helping maintain our culture by teaching the next generation.

When asked, “What has kept you at Caroba for over 40 years?”, April replied that she has always felt really loved and part of the family at Caroba. It is interesting to note that when April moved away from her family in South Dakota, she had no easy way to reach them because they didn’t have a phone. April explained that Barry Hart has always been like a big brother, providing a safe, enjoyable work environment, and that Caroba became her family away from home. April would like to mention that she is very thankful for the opportunities throughout the years but we are even more thankful that she is still part of the Caroba family after 40 years!
